If it ain’t Kratos smashing through gates of hell just because he can or slicing through hordes of bad guys with his blades of Athena, I sincerely don’t remember that many games that gave such an unforgettable experience. Although ‘killing’ zeus, the king of the gods so many times can be both annoying and fun at the same time, very few games make you love repetition as much as this.
And now the boys from Santa Monica are here with another badass addition to keep you interested this summer with its own bucket load of twists and turns. As you might have guessed, this is a very highly anticipated game thus the need to get as much info as possible.
From the trailer to E3 to the spoilers and leaks, we just can’t get enough of how this game would turn out on the latest Sony console with all the hardware and GPU available for the developers to play with, right?
Okay (I’m assuming you answered yes), I’m going to be giving you guys awesome info about Santa Monica’s latest installment.
TRAILER
This is actually one of the first insights we got into the Nordic (Hope I got that right –Norse world didn’t sound better to me either) world of Kratos and his son.
It starts with Kratos’ son putting a set of candles around a woman (Should be Atreus’ mother), after which another woman (His aunt according to speculations) speaks to Atreus about the bow he is using (later revealed to be crafted for him by his mother). It appears they are on a journey to the highest point/ mountain peaks to bury the ashes of Atreus’ mother (name still unknown).
They encounter a huge variety of enemy creatures as Atreus tries to keep his rage at bay resulting in sickness (what?)
Mimir comes along, the god of knowledge and wisdom and guides the duo to the highest peak in the realms, this he does while asking for a task to be done which somehow involves cutting his head off (yep!) and presenting it to the world serpent which is Loki’s offspring (done pondering?)
Later on, we see Brok, a dwarf blacksmith (this should mean that there would be weapons upgrades and all). Just then, in a moment of concentrated awesomeness, we see Kratos’ bandages come loose, and he then tightens them back up in anger. These bandages cover the scars of his past when he used the chains of chaos to destroy the monsters, demons and all sorts of Greek gods. You can check out all the eye candy and graphical music in the trailer video below.
SPECULATIONS
Starting with Kratos’ rage, the main reason Kratos would be hiding the truth about Atreus from himself (according to fan speculation) is that they both share their rage and the last thing Kratos wants for his son right now is him losing his cool as it would have the same effect on Kratos (who knows too well the harm he has caused killing off the Greek gods ) and maybe he wants his son, Atreus to be a good man unlike himself.
Another is the theory about the emerging villain in God Of War 4. Knowing well enough that the game was set in Norse mythology, the hero of Avenger’s earth might just be the villain here, deduced from the fact that the World serpent (an offspring of Loki’s) offers Kratos help. So don’t be surprised if Kratos would be influenced (as ever) to kill Thor and Odin.
There is also plausibility to the fact that the Norse gods are not happy with Kratos for killing all the Greek gods and crashing in their backyard (maybe they are wetting their pants already, feeling threatened by his presence leading them to try attacking him first)
RELEASE DATE AND PLATFORM
