THE GAMEPLAY

No matter the adverts, campaigns, trailers that follow a product, they can’t substitute the final consumption.

Now with that said, who likes playing an overhyped game that ends up turning out as B.S. PES 18 is certainly the game that takes football at the deepest and most in depth level and brings it out in this refreshingly fresh and fun way not seen in any other football game, FIFA 18 is definitely not a table soccer game but it just doesn’t hit the same high marks on the pitch where it really counts. The same problems since FIFA 15, talking about the defense and goal keeper’s AI. In this game attacking players, especially the world’s best, feel outright overpowered with the likes of Ronaldo, Aubameyang and the likes cutting through defense lines like unstoppable badasses. This could be a whole world of fun at the beginning, but will easily lose its sensation after about 20 matches with goals being scored like there was a ball magnet at the back of every post. Seriously, even the clubs with the best defense systems in the world are laughably easy to brush past, making matches to end with, on average 4-8 goals scored. Making it feel like a glorified training session where all balls magically find the feet of other team mates and the back of the net.

PES 18 on the other hand rewards intelligent play and creativity, as there is a plethora of ways to leave your players facing the goal. Passes are less successful most of the time and the goalies are almost impossible to beat, therefore rewarding timing and position in the quest for a goal.

If you are just looking to have a good 30 minutes of fun and laughter, scoring ridiculously far off goals without giving a horse’s hoot about formations, tactics, lineups and all of that. FIFA 18 will be the one you want to take, but if, like me, you want to play a more serious and refined game that rewards ingenuity and creativity due to the employment of all the complex mechanics of the sport. PES 18 will definitely be a no-brainer.
